Progress on Mr. Bowie! I'm still struggling with learning how to use masks so I haven't made much progress unfortunately, but I did manage to get him onto a different background.
This is such a great image to work off of. I think there are a lot of things you can do to make different iterations, and I can't wait to see where you go with it!
I definitely think the lightning in the background is working really well alongside his makeup in this particular image. lightning imagery is also just very interesting to begin with so I can't wait to see more iterations come from this!
"Body," a narrative in four parts. This series expresses my personal struggles with gender dysphoria, and body dysmorphia, which are two sides of the same coin for me. I don't experience my insecurities about my body as separate from my gender identity dysphoria; they are one and the same. The pieces are about struggling with body image, and learning that I may not ever be 100% happy in my body, but that I can find people who can hold that happiness for me; I can find support from the people I love, even when I don't always love myself.
Here's my final piece for the fantasy object assignment. I'm fairly pleased, though I feel like the background could use some work. I struggled with finding an environment that made sense contextually but didn't become so busy that it distracted from the focal point of my work. However, I am happy with how the musical notes and the shading on the sewing machine itself turned out!
Here are my final iterations. I chose to do a series of three, to illustrate the cycle that I'm referencing. Full disclosure, this project is about my experience with eating disorders and the causal relationship between them, trauma, and healing.
